Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 25, 2026.
This policy explains what Pet Calculator (petcalculator.top) collects, what it does not, and the choices you have. It covers this website only.
What you type about your pet never leaves your browser
Every calculator on this site is plain client-side JavaScript. Weights, ages, dates, doses, amounts eaten and every other value you enter are computed on your own device. They are not transmitted to us, not written to a database, and not stored after you close the tab. We run no accounts, no logins and no newsletter, so we hold no name, email address or pet record for you.
Two small exceptions live in your browser's own storage and are never sent anywhere: your cookie choice (so the banner stops asking), and unit preferences where a calculator offers them.
Analytics — exactly what runs, and when
We would like to know which calculators people use so we can improve them. The two tools we use behave differently before you answer the cookie banner, and we would rather spell that out than round it off:
- Google Analytics 4 — aggregate traffic measurement: pages viewed, approximate country, browser and device type, and how visitors arrived. IP addresses are anonymised. The Google tag does load on your first page view, but it starts in Google Consent Mode with storage denied: it sets no analytics or advertising cookies and does not identify you. In that state it may still send Google a cookieless measurement ping— an anonymous signal with no identifier attached — which Google uses for aggregate, modelled statistics. If you select “Accept all”, normal cookie-based analytics begins. If you select “Reject non-essential”, or ignore the banner, it stays in the cookieless state. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
- Microsoft Clarity — to be clear about what this one does: Clarity records anonymised session replays and heatmaps, meaning your clicks, scrolling and mouse movement on our pages can be played back so we can find broken layouts and confusing steps. It masks text input by default. Because this is more than aggregate counting, the Clarity script is never added to the page at all unless you select “Accept all” — rejecting or ignoring the banner means it never loads and nothing is recorded. See the Microsoft privacy statement and Clarity terms.
Advertising
This site is free and we intend to fund it with advertising. Where ads are shown, third-party vendors — including Google — may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and elsewhere on the internet.
- Opt out of personalised Google advertising at My Ad Center or read Google's advertising policies.
- Opt out of many vendors at once in the EU via Your Online Choices, or in the US via the Digital Advertising Alliance's consumer choice page at optout.aboutads.info.
- Block Google Analytics entirely with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Cookies and how to change your mind
Essential storage (your consent choice) is always used. Analytics and, later, advertising cookies are set only after you accept. To change a previous choice, clear this site's cookies and site data in your browser — the banner will appear again on your next visit. Blocking cookies entirely does not break any calculator.
Your rights
If you are in the EEA or UK, our legal basis for analytics and advertising cookies is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time as described above; our legitimate interest covers running the site securely. You have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of personal data, to object to processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because we do not operate accounts, the practical answer to most requests is that we hold no personal data tied to you — but write to us and we will confirm.
If you are a California resident, we do not sell or share personal information in the way the CCPA/CPRA defines a sale for money. Advertising cookies may be treated as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising; rejecting non-essential cookies opts you out. You may also request to know or delete any personal information we hold.
Children
This site is intended for adults caring for pets. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention and security
We keep no calculator inputs, so there is nothing to retain. Aggregate analytics are retained under the providers' own schedules (Google Analytics is configured to the shortest standard retention). The site is served over HTTPS with a strict content security policy.
Third-party links
Our calculators cite veterinary sources such as the ASPCA, Pet Poison Helpline, VCA Animal Hospitals and WSAVA. Those are independent websites with their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
